Here's the secret of The Beatles success: As complicated can be, the harmonies and the songs structure are very simple, but, nowadays, I can't see or hear any other band that composes songs like, let's see and dissect......"If I Fell" just the intro is enough to put our mind in full gear : D#m, D, C#, A#m, D#m, D, Em, A7, the tension is released and resolves to D, in which the song is based, this is a major break in rock history, well ahead of the simple structure of D-G7-A7, this song and many others are 50+years old and still fresh just like the day it was composed......The Beatles rules.

This record was the first song I ever slow-danced to with a girl.It was August of 1964, and I was eight-and-a-half years old. That day, my Mom (R.I.P.) invited the wife and children of my Dad's boss to our house for a picnic/cookout in our backyard.Additionally, Mom invited a girl named Heather who was a few months younger than me, and whose family had been my next-door neighbors until about a year earlier (they had moved to another part of my suburban Boston hometown) since Mom thought that I should have a "date" for the afternoon.Heather by this time was a big Beatles fan, and had brought over the Beatle albums (other than the "Hard Day's Night" soundtrack, since most of the songs also appeared on "Something New") that had been released in the U.S. My Mom moved the speaker of the hi-fi set in our living room to an "open" window (but with a screen to prevent bugs from coming into the house) facing the backyard and played the albums. When this song came on, Heather and I actually danced (I think she wanted me to; maybe she or her Mom got the memo I was supposed to be her "date" for the afternoon)It was clumsy, an eight-year-old girl (Heather) and an eight-and-a-half year-old boy (me) merely holding hands down at the same height as our waists (but only holding hands) and moving one step sideways, then move one step sideways in the other direction, then back-and-forth for two minutes and sixteen seconds.Although she continued to live in the same town as me, I never saw Heather again, mainly because she went to Catholic schools (through high school) and I went to public schools through high school. If she had remained my next door neighbor for all those years, who knew??BTW, at the present time (June, 2015), I'm still single, but I am in a serious relationship with a lady (we've been going together for almost eight years), and to be truthful, I think I wound up with the right girl.Hopefully, Heather found the right guy and has been with him for many years.

I wonder if this is the famous scene where the Byrds found out George was playing a 12 string electric and that's how he got that "Chime" sound to the guitar?

Love that smirk from Lennon to Ringo. That's what I used to give to our band's drummer, who was anyway far greater musician than I bassplayer/singer was but sometimes (manytimes) I led the bastard :)
